I just happened to check the top 10 paid apps on my iPhone yesterday and what did I see at number 3 but Pokemon Yellow, not a "guide", or a "tip sheet" or a "ebook" or "pokedex" but something claiming to be Pokemon Yellow...
...with one star rating...out of 401 ratings...by "Home of Anime" and not any software developer I'd ever heard of.
Needless to say all the reviews are "scam", "con", "rip off", "crashes" and so on. Also no surprise it has gone from the app store completely today, and nothing else exists on there by the same company.
What amazes me is how this could have possibly got past any approval process Apple have. When something like iMame slips past you can kind of think, maybe some kindly person knew what it was and just thought they'd let it on for a day or so to make the internet happy. But this? Absolutely nobody that downloaded it reported it worked at all, it just crashed!!! On every device!!!
Steve Jobs must be turning in his grave. I'm not exactly a fan of his shouty bully management style, but this looks like an occasion when someone should be shouted at.
If the name of the product, the artwork of the product, the entire description and screenshots of the product all being blatant copyright infringements passed you buy, then how on earth did you click approve when it wouldn't even run?
