How can anyone forget those cringeful lines...

"May the force be with you"
"Luke I am your father...."
"Luke I am your sister"
"Luke it is your destiny"
"Give in to the darkside"
etc etc

Even the acrors admitted that they cringed when they first read the scripts.

Aliens wins hands down, there is no contest. Star Wars is just pure fairy tale nonsense.

C`mon I thouight this thread was going to get a better response than this?

Some valid points, if I hadn`t grown up watching the Star Wars trilogy I probably wouldn`t have loved it that much. For me I prefer those films cause it reminds me of simpler times (like not having to do a dissertation) and the whole era.

However, after careful reflection on the topic, I have concluded that I like both sets of movies equally for different reasons because they both symbolise something about my short life thus far. Of course Alien and Aliens are the better films but you can`t say you never had fun watching Star Wars?

Like when I watched Blair Witch at the cine, ending freaked me out and to make matters worse my beloved Spurs lost ot Kaiserslautern in injury time, I`ll never forget that night. Pointless I know, but it was freaky.

Anyways thats my take on things.

Come on folks, let`s face it, the first star wars was in `77, so take this into consideration when judging against a film that is 15/20 years junior !!! For it`s time Star wars WAS the only film that rocked, since then Aliens has come along and given us a taste of how a film should be made regarding effects, I say effects because either film in my opinion don`t have much in the way of dialogue but I like pop corn movies, one`s that give you the effects in your face !

If you consider Eps 1 into the equation, you look at the ampount of computer generated graphics in that compared to dialogue !

Still Aliens for me !

Star Wars is pure fantasy as it was intended to be. no one says a film has to be realistic. Lord of the rings has been voted novel of the century but is it realistic? I dont think so. If something is not realistic that doesnt mean that its crap. The lines from star wars i like. They are memorable and real in the context of the film

The dialogue in star wars is cheesy....mom`s own apple pie......i suppose we like abit of it once in a while:-)
