Page 1 of Aliens Vs Star Wars

As people on the boards have been posting a lot about Star Wars and the Alien movies, I just wondered which set of movies you prefered.

I myself, grew up watching the Star Wars movies and they will ALWAYS be the best movies for me, but I do love Aliens & Co. I think that they are different movies, but have things in common.

First movies were class, the sequel better, the third pretty average and the fourth a dissappointment, if you see what I mean?

Good comparison, James, and a thread I feel will blossom into some heated discussion.

Before that happens, let me reminisce about my own childhood experiences. I was 10 when Star Wars came out. I remember queuing round the block at St Albans Odeon for it...all I remember is my sister punching me repeatedly in the queue, as I was my usual pain-in-the-butt-self.

Anyway, lights came down and .....er, I remember nothing.

Alien, etc, on the other hand, changed my life. For example, rarely a day goes by when I don`t use the line "How do we get out of this chicken-s*** outfit", especially at work. And I`ve totally lost count of the times my fist has `burst` out of my T-shirt....

My Dad watched Alien when they showed it on the telly for the first time. The rest of the family had long gone to Snoozyville. It was midnight, and there was an hour left of the film for my Dad to cope with.

He got scared - he taped it (that`ll be on the V2000 VCR we had at the time then) and made the whole family watch the last hour with him during daylight hours.

Any film that does that to my old man is worth its weight in gold.

C`mon guys - Alien or Star Wars - let the battle commence (keep it clean...)

I have to agree that I find Alien(s) much more memorable.

I have seen some of the Star Wars films, but I cant remember which ones. I watched them ages ago but I dont know which one is which so I am not sure what I have seen.

Alien(s) on the other hand, that has stuck in my mind since I first saw it. I can still never remember exactly when to prepare to jump either. Still gets me..........(shiver).........

I have nothing against Star Wars, but I have to take sides with the Alien franchise. Aye.

sorry to say i have to go with starwars the originals mind you not

alien and aliens rank right up there too. the other two were ok but a bit of a let down after aliens

Well if you have any sense you should just ignore all the hype and draw your own conclusions. If you dont like something, then thats ok.

Awwwww man I am losing my mind.

The first star wars was good the next was average but it was the lastone that stole the show and was brilliant. While star wars has excellent dialogue and lots of good characters, The alien movies have been consistently brilliant cept the last one which was only just watchable. However i think star wars wins the character battle as there are more and theres only one ripley. Everyone in the alien series dies so you cant really get into liking the characters.

I`d have to say that the Star Wars Trilogy (Original Editions) are among the best films I have ever seen (Empire is the best). Alien and Aliens are memorable and brilliantly made, Alien 3`s OK (count Alien 4 out) but Star Wars get`s my vote.

The Dialogue in the starwars movies was tosh.........thats why Guiness wanted out!

and its the reason Terrence Stamp said he thought George Lucas wanted to make a movie and not a animated toy catalogue:-))

Starwars = entertaining, few braincells required tosh!!!!!!!!!!!!
