Looks like a great cast, but also looks like it's all been done before, and Sam Raimi's trilogy was so well made, it just smacks of a cash in reboot to me. ![]()

That's exactly what I thought Rob.
Raimi's were a bit cheesy for my taste at times, but this doesn't seem massively far off either.
One thing is it's not a "cash in" as such, they have to make a film every certain number of years or the rights revert back to Marvel.
Which is why the famous Fantastic Four film from the 90's was made with no intention of going to cinema, but purely so a film was technically made.
They are currently pushing on with a Fantastic Four reboot because of this also.
Personally I think they should have gone down the Hulk route of just making a film that uses the character and ignores the origin aspect.

I didn't think much of the first trailer but looking forward to this now. Loved the Raimi trilogy and since that hasn't continued it's the next best thing I suppose.
I wonder how bad and cheap a film they can make to retain the license? I know some of them have been pretty bad, but I'm thinking really terrible straight to video, not even good enough for a daytime Channel 5 movie type affair.

The Fantastic Four one was made in 1994.
It cost $1,500,000 to make and was never released in any format and the directors and actors weren't actually aware of this.

I have a copy of the original FF movie.......its one of those its so bad its go.....no it is awful ![]()
I'm really not interested in this. It just makes me want to put the Sam Raimi trilogy on my TV again. Haven't watched them in a while...
Don't like the look of this Peter Parker at all anyway.
I didn't really care for the Raimi SpiderMan trilogy in the first place. I think it's waaaaaaay too soon to be thinking about a reboot, especially when there are better Marvel franchises still untouched. Nothing about this new movie makes me want to see it, either in the cinema, on disc or as a graveyard-slot transmission with sign language on ITV1.

When did this parents storyline happen in the comics? Is it a recent thing?

There's a ton of Studio politicking involved in this movie. Sam Raimi was developing Spider-Man 4 for Sony, but couldn't agree on a script ready for the picture's due date this month. Sony pulled the plug on the project and simultaneously announced a "reboot" with a completely different production team. But a suspiciously similar script.
I suspect they couldn't fire Raimi without starting a lawsuit, but a "reboot" let all parties off the hook without looking in any way acrimonious.
It just makes me even less interested in seeing the movie.
