RE: So has Henman got what it takes?

I agree, I can`t see him winning a `Major`, but it is a bit irritating when the BBC ask him the same stupid question every year..."Is this your year Tim ??"

Yeah, I wonder if they watch Tennis any other part of the Year....C`MON TIM !!!!!

RE: So has Henman got what it takes?

I feel sorry for Timmy

He is consistently in the World Top 5 throught the year, playing many finals, and winning some, with virtually no recognition from the media !

Then, the BBC jump on Wimbledon like it`s the only tournament in the world and think he`s going to win it.
Lay off him I reckon, he`s one of the World`s best in a Sport where the competition is tight !!

That`s my view.

RE: Daewoo 6000D for £75

I know it`s a bit much to hope for, but does this player have a Onboard DD decoder ?

Hope someone can answer.

Neil

RE: War of the Worlds

I think this album is still a great listen.
It`s even better put through Dolby Prologic 2, with the lights out and sub on !!

Macrovision Help Please

Hello,

I`m trying to Backup my VCD`s to S-VHS. I thought that Macrovision was not present on VCD`s, but when trying to record, I get Macrovision symptons (Flashing, B&W etc... etc...).
I even tried ripping a DVD to VCD and removing Macrovision, but it still won`t work.

Can anyone help with this ?
My DVD Player isn`t Macro free (Pioneer Dv-646a) and the Video is JVC S-VHS. I`m simply connecting a Scart between the two.

I could buy a Macrobuster Scart thingy, but shouldn`t need to !

Hope someone can help,

Neil.

RE: A very easy question .. HONEST !!

Hello Mr Clayts,

Which Marantz are you warming to ? The SR4200 or the SR5200 ?

I almost regretting not going the extra few bucks for the 5200 because of the 6 Channel input, for DVD-A (the 4200 doesn`t have them) and the 5200 has EX/ES I believe too.

Hope you make the right choice.

Neil

RE: H&B 5415s Macrovision Workaround (sort of !!)

Hello,

I have a few VCDs, some originals and some DVD Rips (with Macrovision `Switched off`) and when I try to Backup to VHS , I still get the flashing and it`s totally unrecordable.
What would be the reason for this ?

Thanks,

Neil.

RE: Videologic Digitheatre DTS or Yamaha HTiB

Hello,

I used to have the Videologic DTS and my room was a lot bigger than yours and the sound filled it really well. It`s not the prettiest thing to look at, but it really does sound fantastic and the Subwoofer is amazing.

Before I bought it, I tested it against 2 of the Sony kits and the Yamaha VS10 and I thought it was much better.
It`s a bit more pricey than the others (£399) but there are deals around. Comet (In Cwmbran at least) have the Black version for £250 (Silver still £399).

Hope this helps.

RE: World Cup Results Thread ***SPOILER****

This is great !!
It has now replaced Sky.com as my first stop for World Cup updates.

Thanks,

Neil.

RE: What would your starting 11 be...?

Goally: Seamansy.
Defenders: Dyersy, Ferdy, Camby, Coley,
Midfield: Becksy, Buttsy, Scholesy, Hargreavesy,
Forwards: Owensy, (Heskeysy for 60mins, then Sheringhamsy)

That`s my choice.

Neil.

RE: Upgraded to DD and DTS..........Good God!!!!

Nope, it is the DTS Version, I assure you.

Why so cheap ? I don`t know, I assume because the Silver one is more easy on the eye.
Videologic say it`s exactly the same as the Silver one, apart from a different dust cap on the Sub-woofer.

Hope this helps.

Neil.

RE: Upgraded to DD and DTS..........Good God!!!!

The Videologic Digitheatre DTS (Black only) is in Comet for £250. Silver is £389.

Neil

RE: Bargain cdwiter!

Lite-on DVD`s and Re-Writers are used in most of the Dell pcs.

Hope this helps.

RE: What`s the most toecurling/cringeworthy movie moment?

Have to agree with Alfie Noakes, British attempts at `American` films make me squirm.

The entire Pearl Harbour film is a Cringemaking factory.

Neil.

RE: What to buy for Dolby Digital 5.1

The Videologic Digitheatre DTS can match it, and is available cheaper.
It`s not as pretty, but in my opinion, sounds better. The speakers are better quality and the Sub is fantastic.

Not sure why it`s not mentioned anymore.

Neil.

RE: IF U COULD HAVE WRITTEN ANY FILM SCRIPT?

My Cousin Vinny
When Harry Met Sally

Neil.

RE: If you could have been in any film.

I`d like to be three people in films...

Indiana Jones (Don`t need to explain why)

Harry (In When Harry Met Sally) (Do need to explain, but no-one would understand anyway)

Jabba The Hut. (Life of luxury, and gets to maul Leia in ROTJ)

RE: Star Wars:AOTC is the perfect movie!

What is so wrong with CGI ? It seems it`s trendy at the moment to to criticise a film that has lots CGI. Some of it looks fantastic, if it looks good (or better than a real alternative), surely it should be in ?

Toy Story was good and Shrek was too (Are we `not allowed` to like them?)

Westy, (Excuse me being familiar, but don`t know your real name)
Are you a welshy bloke like me ? I have noticed in a couple threads your references to Cardiff.

RE: Star Wars Episode III - What will happen ?

I take your point, although I do find it hard to be irritated by George Lucas. He has entertained me with Star Wars (Particularly when I was younger) and also with the Indiana Jones films.

I personally don`t take the films that seriously, but I do enjoy them and my kids do too, and with DVD, it even made The Phantom Menace worth watching again!!

Can`t fault your taste with Howard the Duck !

RE: Star Wars Episode III - What will happen ?

That has answered most of my questions, thankyou.
You even answered a question that I didn`t ask (but thought about)...Why wasn`t Leia a Jedi? I`d love to see her handle a Light Sabre (fnaaar fnaaar).

As for Mr Wonderful`s comments.. I purposely placed in my thread, an apology to all non-Star Wars fans for yet another thread reating to Star Wars, to minimise the risk of a anti-Star Wars fan giving the predictable response. Unfortunately, you chose to ignore it, and instead, gave me the benefit of your version of the next Episode. Thanks anyway, slightly different to Flying Monkeys but still worth a read.
Incidently, what is your favouraite Film/Book etc ?...(that questions goes to Handsome)

Star Wars Episode III - What will happen ?

Hello,

Does anyone know what`s going to happen in the next Episode ?

Obviously we`ll see Anakin move to the dark side, but who is it that takes him ? Presumably Dooku?
Will Luke and Leia appear in the next film ? Why did Anakin and Padme have Luke adopted ?

All this may be well known, but I haven`t read anything...
(Of course there`s some of you who don`t care, apologies therefore, for another Star Wars thread)

Neil.

RE: Star Wars: AOTC - Mind Blowing!!!!!!

Mr Wonderful,

You`re right about the `love` scenes. In the original Trilogy, the `love` scenes were actually quite funny between Solo and Leia.

Neil.

RE: Lexus Sport Coupe ad - the music - anyone know what it is?

I taped Vivaldi`s 4 Seasons off a mate from Vinyl. By accident, I taped it at at 45rpm instead of 33rpm. I didn`t realise until someone heard it playing in my car...

Boy, did I feel stupid !!

RE: How long will we all live for?

My ambition is to live forever.......

So far, so good.

RE: Anyone heard the new Tom Waits albums?

I think I`ll be investing in both of those Cd`s

Tom Waits is one of those rare artists whose music is listenable time after time, not matter which album. He songs are humourous, and despite is `voice`, they are very emotional/romantic too.

Sorry to bore people, but he is quite unique.

Unfortunately, he`s probably more widely known for his appearance in Bram Stokers Dracula, as the strange man in the cage.
He also wrote Rod Stewarts Hit `Downtown Train`, but his version was superior (in my opinion)

Neil.

RE: Anyone heard the new Tom Waits albums?

Hiya,

Heard one track yesterday, sounded excellent. Tuneful, but still had his `distinctive` voice.

Didn`t realise there was two albums though. Do you have anymore information ?

Neil.

RE: Ferrari aren`t doing themselves ANY favours!!

I used to enjoy watching Formula 1, but it is difficult to watch now with so many `silly things` going on. Most of the relating to Ferrari.

It`s not just the Team Orders that are irritating...

A few years ago they allowed Schumacher to complete his 10 second penalty AFTER the race was complete, in the pit lane. That is taking the p*ss.

Also Ferrari broke rules on the bodywork of their car, which should have meant disqualification, but got away with it because it was only 1/4 of an inch out ! Technology being like it is in this sport, should not allow tolerances like that.

Formula 1 I think is mainly to blame, by sucking up to the teams who contribute most cash.

That`s my view.
